What’s better than burrata? Burrata that’s stuffed with pizza fixings, maybe.
The new “inside out pizza-filled burrata” creation comes from Williamsburg restaurant The Bedford: It features a glob of handmade burrata, packed with herbs and marinara sauce, and served alongside Parmesan flatbread for $ 16.
“With how big burrata has gotten in the past few years, we thought, ‘Why don’t we put the flavors of a pizza inside?’” says Sean Rawlinson, the restaurant’s co-owner and chef.
Get your phone camera ready for this one: Once you slice into the white wad, vibrant red sauce oozes out in a mouthwatering mudslide sure to get all the “likes.”
If this all sounds like something out of an Instagram fever dream, it kind of is. Rawlinson collaborated with professional influencer Jared Zuckerman, who runs the social media consulting company @FoodandCity, to hatch the cheesy menu item.
“The Instagram world is out there, so of course you want something different and unique, but at the same time, the flavor is correct,” Rawlinson says. “We’re not just doing something weird for the sake of being weird.”
